KEM STUDIO is a design firm fusing architecture and industrial design. Our practice is based on the belief that BETTER DESIGN yields BETTER LIVING. This approach to design is rooted in the fundamental idea that good design is integral to the enjoyment of everyday life.

Originally founded as Kemnitzer Design in 1981, KEM STUDIO is a natural evolution of the original studio. For us, collaboration and diverse research interests lead to innovation. With expertise in architecture and industrial design, we nurture a creative process that produces integrated design solutions that reflect a broader understanding of the environmental, social and personal impact of what we design.

Inherent in our commintment to our projects and our clients is the fact the three principals of KEM STUDIO will be involved in the design of every project. Collaboration is fundamental to our process, and fundamental to our business. We value the relationships we establish on projects - our clients and consultants are an extension of our studio and creative process.

We believe in a more holistic design approach that constantly challenges previous assumptions, grounding our work by offering perspective and establishing relationships between what we do and the world around us. Part of how we define and reinforce the collaborative nature of our studio is through education. As designers we are students, questioning and learning from every client, project and collaborator – As academic teachers we are also students, learning from those we’ve taught while sharing what we’ve learned with the next generation of designers and the community.
