Andra earned a Master of Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2006, where she signed up for every travel studio available (i.e. Cuba, China and Beirut). Prior to pursing architecture, Andra completed her Bachelor of Arts in Art History at the University of Virginia. During university, Andra interned at the Cloisters Museum, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice, Italy. This extensive experience in museum work, exhibition design and collection management was invaluable when she worked at Imery Culbert in New York City on several exhibition design projects including the Louvre Lens, National Museum of the American Indian, Institute for the Study of the Ancient World at NYU and the Morgan Library. Andra then worked as a design consultant for the New York City School Construction Authority and gained experience on exterior and interior renovations of landmark public school buildings throughout the five bouroughs of New York. Prior to joining KEM STUDIO, Andra was the project manager of Southern Region dealership projects for Audi of America while at CDR Studio and collaborated with the partners on the design and construction of 30+ dealerships and special projects for Audi.
In her professional practice, Andra enjoys the evolution of a project and the collaborative design process. Rather than having a singular answer, she listens to the clients and works with them to identify the project questions and goals. Then through the lens of context and material investigation and research, she keeps a vigilant eye on the project’s development to ensure it meets the client’s needs and integrates within the surrounding community.
Andra is a registered architect in the state of Missouri, Kansas and New York.
